Vasyl's laparoscopic cyst removal can't wait - please help us cover the bill
Vasyl needs laparoscopic cyst removal at Yekaterinburg Orthopedic Institute and the family is $2,050 short of the hospital's estimate.

In August I was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect. My surgeon at Yekaterinburg Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,950, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $2,050 short.
Doctors at Yekaterinburg Orthopedic Institute told me an aortic valve defect will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a call-centre agent, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,950 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a call-centre agent have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 6 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $200
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $1,000
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $590
• Travel and lodging for the family: $155
• Post-operative medication: $105
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Yekaterinburg.
Thank you. If you're in Yekaterinburg I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Good question.
Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Yekaterinburg.
what's already covered and what's the $2,050 for?
Sure. The biggest one is physiotherapy sessions, $200. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.
Thinking of you. Get well soon. Put this on a community board in Rochester this morning.
Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Colombo so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Dhaka!
Hope the doctors have good news. After 19 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
Keep going, Vasyl. Get well soon. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Yekaterinburg.
