I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a computer science degree at Mumbai Community College, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $1,150. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.6 average, and my academic advisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $1,150 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $510 • Final term tuition: $550 • Exam and lab fees: $45 • Textbooks and materials: $45 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

            How is Srinivas doing now?

            • Hang in there. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.

              • Hope it all works out. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in Calgary this morning. Blessings

                • Take care, Srinivas. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 7 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Mumbai.

                        • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
