I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at Cardiff Polytechnic, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a warehouse packer to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $4,050.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my academic advisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Cardiff Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $4,050 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,100
• Final term tuition: $2,550
• Exam and lab fees: $160
• Textbooks and materials: $240
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Hope it all works out, Nolan. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Best of luck, Nolan. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 17 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Hang in there, Nolan. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
