Marta is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in social work at the Macon Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,900. The registrar has said Marta can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Marta has a top-ten-percent average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Marta would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Marta isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Macon Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $1,900 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $310 • Textbooks and materials: $430 • Final term tuition: $1,160 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
