Alok is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an electrical engineering diploma at the Birmingham Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,950. The registrar has said Alok can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Alok has a 3.8 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Alok would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Alok isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Birmingham Institute of Technology bursar's office.
