The Union vacant lot needs a community fridge - Travis's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $1,450 for materials.
🇺🇸 United States708 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,450.
It will serve about 218 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Materials: $980
• Safety equipment and signage: $190
• Tools hire and delivery: $280
Thank you so much.
Updates from Travis
Update from Erie: I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage. We're at 9% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
Thank you all. We're at 9% now ($126). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($116 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Take care, Travis. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Erie.
