The Pioneer vacant lot needs a solar-powered water pump - Ratul's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Mumbai are raising $400 for a solar-powered water pump at the Pioneer vacant lot.
Anywhere in the world890 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 468 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $250
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $35
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

So sorry you're going through this. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 23 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
Hope things get better soon, Ratul. I hope things turn around soon. It's not much but it's yours.
Hope it all works out, Ratul. I hope things turn around soon.
