For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,400. It will serve about 599 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,400 goes: • Materials: $1,200 • Permits and inspections: $330 • Safety equipment and signage: $390 • Tools hire and delivery: $480 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
