The Lotus hillside cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
Volunteers are restoring the Lotus hillside in Rawalpindi; $250 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇵🇰 Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan192 views
The Lotus hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 64 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 114 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $75
• Tools and protective gear: $75
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $30
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

How is Asad doing now?
You're not alone, Asad. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Rawalpindi.
Sending good thoughts, Asad. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't give up.
