The Lotus community hall needs a rainwater harvesting system - Isaac's neighborhood project
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Lotus community hall that will serve 465 neighbors.
🇦🇺 Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia3,501 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,650.
It will serve about 465 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $550
• Materials: $1,900
• Permits and inspections: $200
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Hope things get better soon, Isaac. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best
