For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 258 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Materials: $465
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
Updates from Dũng
Good news. Because of your gifts ($165 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Dũng
