The Freedom vacant lot needs a playground - Ella's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Bristol are raising $1,450 for a playground at the Freedom vacant lot.
🇬🇧 Bristol, England, United Kingdom959 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,450.
It will serve about 450 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Materials: $840
• Permits and inspections: $125
• Safety equipment and signage: $220
• Tools hire and delivery: $265

hang in there, Ella. This could happen to any of us.
Sending good thoughts, Ella. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Bristol.
Thanks for sharing this, Ella. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 24 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything
