Volunteers in Albuquerque are raising $1,100 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the Cedar health centre yard.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,350, and the remaining cost is $1,100.
It will serve about 422 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $240
• Safety equipment and signage: $450
• Permits and inspections: $410
