The Baobab vacant lot needs a skate park - Thandi's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Ekurhuleni are raising $750 for a skate park at the Baobab vacant lot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $750.
It will serve about 182 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $750 goes:
• Materials: $520
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $140
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Updates from Thandi
We're at 48% thanks to 10 of you. I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage. More news soon.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($184 in total) I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Sending good thoughts. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Ankara.
any update on how things are going in Ekurhuleni?
Hope things get better soon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Blessings
Thinking of you. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Blessings
Stay strong, Thandi. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
