After fleeing Venezuela, the Abdi family has arrived in Embakasi with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Embakasi
My family left Venezuela 8 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Embakasi. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in June. I was a nurse in Venezuela, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $700 goes: • Language classes and bus passes: $50 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $55 • Rent deposit and first month: $460 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $135 Every share and every dollar helps.

Updates from John

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 10% funded and the plan for beds, table and basic furniture is now scheduled.
