Looking for housing-law advice in California: an order to leave for 'renovations'.

My landlord in Oakland has given me an order to leave for 'renovations'. I've read what I can online, but the rules are confusing and different sources contradict each other. I'm hoping that someone with experience in housing or tenant rights in California could spare 20-30 minutes to explain the process, the deadlines and the documents I should collect. I have my lease, all communications and photos organized. I'm happy to share them privately. I can't pay for a lawyer, so any guidance on free services in California would also be appreciated. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Thanks for sharing this. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Rajkot donated after I showed her your page. Blessings

    • You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.

      • Wishing you peace. This could happen to any of us. Thinking of Oakland.

          • hope things get better soon, Kennedy. Shared it with a few friends. After 24 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
