Tejaswini needs someone who understands: peer support in recovery

A weekly call with someone who has been through it - that's the whole ask.

I'm six months into recovery from alcohol dependence. I attend meetings and see a counselor, but the weeks between meetings are the hardest. I'd love a mentor - someone who has a year or more of recovery and who would be willing to talk once a week. I'm not looking for a replacement for treatment. I'm looking for someone who understands what a bad Tuesday night feels like. I'd prefer someone who's happy to do video calls. Any country is fine. I'll be respectful of your time and boundaries, and happy to pay it forward later. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  • hope it all works out, Tejaswini. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Embakasi this morning. Take care

    • Hope it all works out, Tejaswini. Shared this with my family. Please keep us posted. God bless.

      • best of luck, Tejaswini. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

        • keep going. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Newcastle upon Tyne.

          • wishing you peace. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Seoul.
