Neighbors in Old Town village are rebuilding after the hurricane; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The hurricane hit Old Town village on 18 July. My home was one of 48 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $4,300 goes: • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,600 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,700 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,000 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Thanks for sharing this, Emery. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless.

Hang in there, Emery. More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Tallahassee.
