Surgery fund for Wekesa: laparoscopic cyst removal in Nakuru
A scheduled laparoscopic cyst removal in March is out of reach without help covering $1,150 of the cost.

In December I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Nakuru Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for March. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,300, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $1,150 short.
Doctors at Nakuru Regional Medical Center told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,300 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $330
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $530
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
• Post-operative medication: $70
• Physiotherapy sessions: $70
• Travel and lodging for the family: $70
Every share and every dollar helps.

thanks for sharing this, Wekesa. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Wishing you peace, Wekesa. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Greetings from La Plata.
