Valerio was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in May. The surgeon at Brescia Orthopedic Institute recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $5,200 short.
my father has been in and out of Brescia Orthopedic Institute since May. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Valerio struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Valerio won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
