Quezon City
Teodoro was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in February. The surgeon at Quezon City Orthopedic Institute recommended a craniotomy, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,100, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,050 short. my father has been in and out of Quezon City Orthopedic Institute since February. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,100 is more than we can find. While we wait, Teodoro struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Teodoro won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,050 goes: • Hospital stay (4 nights): $240 • Travel and lodging for the family: $70 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $610 • Post-operative medication: $30 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $100 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
