Sharmila was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Rajkot Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,450, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,150 short.
my mother has been in and out of Rajkot Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,450 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Sharmila struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Sharmila won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
