Russell was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in September. The surgeon at Oakland Community Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $4,000 short.
my brother has been in and out of Oakland Community Hospital since September. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Russell struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Russell won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
