Surgery fund for Josefina: a craniotomy in San Fernando
After endometriosis requiring surgery, Josefina was cleared for a craniotomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In July I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at San Fernando Community Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,800, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $1,400 short.
Doctors at San Fernando Community Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without a craniotomy. I work as a farm laborer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,800 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a farm laborer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $630
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $440
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $85
• Post-operative medication: $65
• Physiotherapy sessions: $125
• Travel and lodging for the family: $55
