Ifeoma was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,250, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,000 short.
my sister has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Ifeoma struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Ifeoma won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
