Eugene was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in June. The surgeon at San Jose Orthopedic Institute recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,350 short.
my husband has been in and out of San Jose Orthopedic Institute since June. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Eugene struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Eugene won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
