Elijah was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in July. The surgeon at Laredo General Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,500 short.
my father has been in and out of Laredo General Hospital since July. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Elijah struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Elijah won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
