Surgery fund for Apio: hip replacement surgery in Fort Portal
A scheduled hip replacement surgery in November is out of reach without help covering $400 of the cost.

Apio was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in August. The surgeon at Fort Portal Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $800, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $400 short.
my mother has been in and out of Fort Portal Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Apio struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Apio won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $400 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $290

Sure. The biggest one is pre-operative tests and imaging, $80. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
