Agnes was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in October. The surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,400, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $2,700 short. my mother has been in and out of Saint Catherine Hospital since October. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,400 is more than we can find. While we wait, Agnes struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Agnes won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
