Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Kojo's family in Accra
After the closure of the factory, Kojo is 3 months behind on rent and has a termination letter from the landlord.
🇬🇭 Greater Accra, Ghana938 views
When my hours were cut in half in July, Kojo fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Friday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $550.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, the family must leave.
There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Kojo has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $550 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $30
• Rent arrears (3 months): $400
• First month of rent as a buffer: $120
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Accra.
Praying for you. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Abuja
How is Kojo doing now?
Shared it with a few friends. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Accra.
thinking of you, Comfort. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 26 people at work. Greetings from Davao City!
Sending love, Comfort. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Karlsruhe.
