Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Paula's family in Orlando
A cut in working hours left Paula short on rent for 2 months; help us stay in our home.
🇺🇸 United States1,011 views
When my hours were cut in half in August, Paula fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Monday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $3,150.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, the family must leave.
There are two young children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Paula has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $1,550
• Late fees and court costs: $310
• Utilities in arrears: $240
• First month of rent as a buffer: $1,050
Glad we found this place.
