Start-up fund for Shankar: reopening a bicycle repair shop after a fire in the building
A bicycle repair shop in Pune needs help replacing a full set of tools after a fire in the building.
🇮🇳 India676 views
For fifteen years I have run a bicycle repair shop in Pune. In August, a fire in the building took a full set of tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $500 goes:
• Shop repairs and licensing: $55
• Replacing a full set of tools: $360
• Initial stock: spare parts: $85
Thank you so much.

Hope things get better soon, Shankar. I hope things turn around soon. Love from Enugu.
so sorry you're going through this. Your post was clear and honest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. God bless.
Keep going. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Pune.
So sorry you're going through this, Shankar. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Patna but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Pune
Looking forward to the next update. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Liverpool.
