For twelve years I have run a tailoring shop in Rome. In August, the demolition of the market took three industrial sewing machines. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Shop repairs and licensing: $400
• Initial stock: fabric and thread: $330
• Replacing three industrial sewing machines: $1,920

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Paolo.
Sure. The biggest one is shop repairs and licensing, $400. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
Praying for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Rome.
