Start-up fund for Mercy: reopening a neighborhood bakery after a storm that collapsed the roof
Mercy lost a commercial oven to a storm that collapsed the roof and needs $450 to reopen a neighborhood bakery and support the family.

For four years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Gwagwalada. In April, a storm that collapsed the roof took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $450 goes:
• Replacing a commercial oven: $260
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $50
• Shop repairs and licensing: $85
• Working capital for the first month: $55
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Best of luck, Mercy. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
