Start-up fund for Luca: reopening a neighborhood bakery after a long illness and repossession
A neighborhood bakery in Syracuse needs help replacing a commercial oven after a long illness and repossession.
🇺🇸 Syracuse, New York, United States1,268 views
For nine years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Syracuse. In July, a long illness and repossession took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Working capital for the first month: $260
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $330
• Replacing a commercial oven: $1,960
Glad we found this place.

hang in there, Luca. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Blessings.
good luck, Luca. Shared this with my family. After 26 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Gangnam.
Keep going, Luca. Looking forward to the next update. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.
Shared it with a few friends. We're a small family in Spanish Town but we're thinking of you
