For nine years I have run a neighborhood bakery in San Diego. In April, a break-in took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $2,950 goes: • Replacing a commercial oven: $2,050 • Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $320 • Shop repairs and licensing: $250 • Working capital for the first month: $330 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Gerardo

Updates from Gerardo

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 73% funded and I made the first payment toward initial stock: flour, butter and sugar.

  2. Small update. $983 so far, I made the first payment toward replacing a commercial oven.

  3. 20% there. the plan for working capital for the first month is now scheduled. Thank you.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Gerardo

    • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. replacing a commercial oven comes first ($2,050) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Ask me anything else.

  • Thanks for sharing this, Gerardo. Hope you make a strong comeback. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

    • This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.

Best of luck, Gerardo. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Blessings.

        • Sending strength. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Oakland.

Hope you make a strong comeback. After 10 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
