For fifteen years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Riyadh. In March, a storm that collapsed the roof took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $950 goes: • Shop repairs and licensing: $310 • Working capital for the first month: $270 • Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $370 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Asma

Updates from Asma

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($214 in total) the plan for working capital for the first month is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Small update. $114 so far, we've started the first stage.

  3. Small update. $95 so far, I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts.
