Thomas was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July. The oncology team at Leeds University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in September. He will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Thomas is 27, worked as a nurse until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Leeds University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $9,800 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $430
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,300
• Scans and lab work: $550
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,520
