Rafael is facing Hodgkin lymphoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Rafael was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in July. The oncology team at Petrópolis Regional Medical Center has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in September. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Rafael is 52, worked as a hairdresser until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Petrópolis Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $3,850 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,550
• Scans and lab work: $250
• Transport to Petrópolis Regional Medical Center: $190
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $230
• Household costs while unable to work: $630
