Standing with Mercedes: thyroid cancer treatment costs

Supporting Mercedes through thyroid cancer: medication, transport to Bogotá University Hospital, and living costs while She can't work.

Mercedes was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in August. The oncology team at Bogotá University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Mercedes is 57, worked as a bank teller until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bogotá University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $550 goes: • Scans and lab work: $230 • Transport to Bogotá University Hospital: $100 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $220 Glad we found this place.
