Mason was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at the Belfast Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in December. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Mason is 45, worked as a nurse until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Belfast Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Transport to the Belfast Oncology Institute: $460
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,350
• Scans and lab work: $690
