Fergal was diagnosed with colon cancer in August. The oncology team at Kilkenny University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in December. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Fergal is 39, worked as a primary school teacher until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Kilkenny University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.

• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,000
• Scans and lab work: $840
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,960
