In July I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at the Malmö Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 47, I worked as a construction supervisor until July, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Malmö Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $10,100 goes: • Transport to the Malmö Oncology Institute: $460 • Scans and lab work: $890 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,500 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,250 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
