Shanice was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Johannesburg University Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,350, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,000 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Johannesburg University Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,350 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Shanice struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Shanice won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
