Neema was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in February. The surgeon at Mbarara Regional Medical Center recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $560, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $450 short. my wife has been in and out of Mbarara Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $560 is more than we can find. While we wait, Neema struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Neema won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
