Septoplasty for Carolina: covering what insurance won't

A scheduled septoplasty in September is out of reach without help covering $1,450 of the cost.

In July I was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly. My surgeon at Iztapalapa Regional Medical Center recommended septoplasty, and I have been placed on the schedule for September. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,400, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $1,450 short. Doctors at Iztapalapa Regional Medical Center told me a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without septoplasty. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,400 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,450 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,050 • Post-operative medication: $55 • Physiotherapy sessions: $250 • Travel and lodging for the family: $95 Every share and every dollar helps. - Carolina
