Saki needs someone who understands: peer support in recovery
A weekly call with someone who has been through it - that's the whole ask.
🇯🇵 Japan1,005 views
I'm four months into recovery from gambling addiction. I attend meetings and see a counselor, but the weeks between meetings are the hardest. I'd love a mentor - someone who has a year or more of recovery and who would be willing to talk once a week.
I'm not looking for a replacement for treatment. I'm looking for someone who understands what a bad Tuesday night feels like.
I'd prefer someone who's happy to do video calls. Any country is fine. I'll be respectful of your time and boundaries, and happy to pay it forward later.
Thank you for reading my story.

It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Sapporo.
Sending love, Saki. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.
Take care, Saki. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Sent it to 4 people at work.
Hope things get better soon. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Sapporo.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Blessings
thinking of you and your family, Saki. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Sapporo.
So sorry you're going through this, Saki. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Wish I lived closer to Madrid so I could bring a meal. Take care.
