Roofing help wanted: Yinka's home in Lagos
The roof at Yinka's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Nigeria136 views
I'm a home-care aide living in Lagos. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $550, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the tiles and battens. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for three or four volunteers who can help over three weekday mornings.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is sturdy shoes, gloves and a willingness to work. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Rooting for you, Yinka. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 10 people at work. All the best.
Wishing you the best. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best.
Hope it all works out. Your post was clear and honest. Greetings from Caruaru
