Roofing help wanted: Ximena's home in Peoria
Ximena, a retired bus driver, needs a few skilled and unskilled helpers for a 1-weekend roof repair in Peoria.

I'm a retired bus driver living in Peoria. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $4,700, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the tiles and battens. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for anyone handy who can help over a weekend.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Thank you so much.

keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together.
Sending good thoughts, Ximena. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Greetings from Fort Worth
hope you get there. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Mombasa.
Shared it with a few friends. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Peoria.
wishing you peace, Ximena. Hope this works out for you. After 18 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
