Roofing help wanted: Uwe's home in Duisburg

Could you spare one long weekend to help repair a leaking roof in Duisburg?

I'm a retired bus driver living in Duisburg. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the living room is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $2,800, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for a small crew who can help over one long weekend. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  • Sending love, Uwe. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 3 people at work.

    • Sending love, Uwe. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.

      • Take care. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry

Thanks for sharing this. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Rawalpindi.

          • Rooting for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't give up.

            • Keep going, Uwe. This could happen to any of us.

                  • Hope it all works out, Uwe. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I have a 15 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless.
